President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has replaced the Prime Minister with the Minister of Industry Sifi Ghrieb who will function on acting capacity.
Larbaoui, a former lawyer has been the North African nation’s Prime Minister since November 2023 following a diplomatic career that saw him represent Algeria as ambassador to several countries as well as to the United Nations.
His absence at a recent meeting recently to discuss a bus accident that had killed 18 people had drawn attention and criticism on social media.
Ghrieb is expected to retain his ministerial position till a substantive Prime Minister is appointed.
