Anthony Martial’s wife has shared the disgusting racist messages she has received from football fans about her husband in the wake of Man Utd defeat to Sheffield Utd on Wednesday.
This revelation comes in the heels of an earlier racial remark targeted at the French man and his teammate Axel Tuanzebe on their social media accounts.
Axel posted a video on his Instagram account on Thursday night with the caption: “My RACE My RELIGION My COLOUR=FOOTBALL”, in response to the abuse on his profile before taking the post down following some dreadful comments he received.
In a latest development, Martial’s wife has now taken to Instagram to share the messages she’s been sent on the social media platform about her husband.
In a statement yesterday, the club condemned the racism directed at players, saying, “Everyone at Manchester United is disgusted by the racial abuse received by players via social media after last night’s game.
“We utterly condemn it and it is encouraging to see other fans condemn this on social media also.
“Manchester United has zero tolerance of any form of racism or discrimination and a long-standing commitment to campaigning against it through our All Red All Equal initiative.
“Identifying these anonymous mindless idiots remains problematic. We urge social media platforms and regulatory authorities to strengthen measures to prevent this kind of behaviour.”
United loss to Sheffield was their first defeat in 13 league games, since losing to Arsenal, and they play the Gunners on Saturday.
