Twitter CEO Elon Musk could leave his role as Chief Twit after majority of voters in an online poll told him to leave the position.
About 57.5% votes were for “Yes”, while 42.5% were against the idea of Musk stepping down as the head of Twitter.
Over 17.5 million people took part in the vote whose outcome Musk promised will be respected.
Musk has come under fire for a number of policy changes since his takeover of the company back in October this year.
He has also seen increasing pressure from Tesla investors to cut back on the time he spends on Twitter, with some pulling their money out of the electric car firm following weeks of ‘erratic’ behaviour from Musk.
Musk is yet to comment since the poll closed. Even if he were to resign as chief executive, he would remain as Twitter’s owner.
In the past Musk has obeyed Twitter polls. He’s fond of quoting the phrase “vox populi, vox dei”, a Latin phrase which roughly means “the voice of the people is the voice of God”.
