The Concerned Referees and Match Commissioners of Ghana (CRAMCOG) have formally notified the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of their decision to withdraw from officiating the remainder of the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League season.
The action follows a 21-week delay in the payment of officiating allowances, highlighting ongoing concerns about the treatment of match officials in the country.
In a letter dated 27 April 2025, CRAMCOG demanded fair treatment and stressed that continued neglect undermines the integrity of the sport.
A portion of the letter read: “An empty sack cannot stand upright,” underscoring their call for urgent attention to the welfare of officiating personnel.
The group asserted that respect and proper compensation for referees and commissioners are essential to maintaining the standards of the league.
They further warned that prolonged non-payment could leave officials vulnerable to external influence, potentially compromising the league’s credibility.
