Prolific striker Erling Haaland failed to score, yet his club Manchester City found ways to cage home side Real Madrid 1-1 in the first leg semi-final of the UEFA Champions League at Bernabeu.
How The Points Were Shared
Instead, his teammate Kevin De Bruyne got the equaliser for Manchester City later on.
Before then, Vinicius Jr unleashed a rocket in the first half for Real Madrid.
The visitors dominated the opening stages with almost all of the ball as the hosts kept their shape and waited for any rare opportunities to counter-attack.
And against the run of play, Real had the first moment of magic as Vinicius unleashed a thunderbolt from almost 30 yards that flew past Ederson and gave the hosts the lead.
City, stunned, struggled to break down a Real side that planned perfectly for all their opponent’s possession.
But just as Vinicius had done in the first half, City scored against the run of play as De Bruyne’s sweet strike from the edge of the box pulled them level.
The next scheduled last four action will be between Inter and AC Milan in Italy.
Afterwards, the second semis encounter will happen later in the month, as the season gradually winds down.
