Nigeria, Wednesday night, defeated the Black Stars of Ghana 2–1 in the Jollof Derby of the ongoing Unity Cup contest at Gtech Community Stadium, London.
The semi-final victory now means that the Nigerian team, mostly known as the Super Eagles, will face Jamaica in the final.
How Super Eagles Towered High
Cyriel Dessers opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a clinical finish, assisted by S. Ismail.
Just five minutes later, Nigeria’s advantage was extended when Ghana’s Razak Simpson accidentally turned the ball into his own net, gifting the Super Eagles a crucial second goal.
The Black Stars of Ghana were able to pull one back through Thomas-Asante in the 70th minute of the encounter.
Nigeria will now be facing Jamaica in the final of the tournament.
Nigeria will later on battle Russia in a high-profile friendly encounter, with the former expected to earn $500,000.
