Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Saturday night beat the Reggae Boyz of Jamaica 5-4 on penalties to clinch 2025 Unity Cup in London.
Moses Simon opened the scoresheet in the 9th minute of the encounter before Jamaica responded immediately through Dixon in the 12th minute.
Samuel Chukwueze gave Nigeria the lead again in the 53 minute but was cancelled by an equaliser through Jamaica’s Jon Russell in the 63 minute.
The game then went into penalty shootout where Coach Eric Chelle’s boys won after penalty shootout.
It was a game that the Nigerian side were the favourites to win at regulation time based on antecedents but their not too impressive performance nearly cost them victory.
While Nigeria is known as a football nation, Jamaica is mostly favoured as a track and filed country especially in short distance races.
In few days, the Super Eagles will face Russia in a high profile international friendly match in Moscow.
