Tottenham Hotspur of England, Wednesday night, beat Manchester United to clinch the UEFA Europa League trophy.
The victory also ensured that Spurs secured a UEFA Champions League (UCL) qualification spot.
The Difference
Brennan Johnson, with the help of Luke Shaw, gave Spurs the lead with a scrappy finish in the 42nd minute of the encounter in Bilbao.
It has now been confirmed that the Red Devils will not be featuring in any European competition next year.
United’s unbeaten UEL run ends in their 15th and final game in this competition, as the inquest into the club’s disastrous campaign begins.
On the other hand, Spurs’ success was a fine way for the Australian coach to mark his 100th match in charge, as Spurs achieved their 150th victory in European competition.
Also, Tottenham ended a 17-year wait for a major trophy.
