American music producer, rapper, and fashion mogul Kanye West is the richest black man in the United States according to a report by Bloomberg.
The report states that West is officially worth $6.6 billion, making him the richest Black man in America’s history.
The 43-year-old has acquired this new status with the help of his successful sneaker and apparel business, Yeezy.
According to the report, Yeezy’s deals with Adidas and GAP is estimated to be between $3.2 and 4.7 billion.
The new Yeezy Gap line, set to be released later this summer, is estimated to be worth $970 million.
An unaudited balance sheet of West’s finances provided by his lawyer to Bloomberg includes another $122 million in cash and stocks.
Some of his wealth also comes from the $1.7bn (£1.5bn) that he earns from additional assets – including his significant investment in his soon-to-be ex-wife’s Skims label.
The spotlight recently has shone on West more for his personal life than his art, after his partner of nearly 7 years, Kim Kardashian, filed for divorce.
