National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has called on Kenyans and political leaders to maintain peace and stability in the country.
Speaking on Friday during the farewell of the late retired chief Mzee Julius Macheso Masibo in Milo village, Sitikho ward in Webuye West Constituency, Wetang’ula noted that the Kenya Kwanza government is working round the clock to revive the country’s ailing economy inherited from the ‘handshake’ regime.
“Kenya needs peace to develop and attract foreign investors and those planning to destabilize our country’s tranquillity should know that we don’t have a spare country,” Wetang’ula said.
He said as they promised in their manifesto, they shall do everything in their power to better the lives of Wananchi.
This comes after Opposition leader Raila Odinga reiterated that there will be no peace if the election rigging in the country will not be resolved.
He said his team is working on making rigging a very expensive enterprise that nobody will ever again think of rigging an election.
“Nobody will ever again think of rigging an election in this country. Without resolving this matter convincingly, there will be no peace,” he said.
He was accompanied by Bungoma Senator David Wafula Wakoli, Bungoma County Assembly Speaker Emmanuel Situma, and Sitikho MCA Grace Sundukwa among other leaders.
