Kenya’s President, William Ruto has expressed shock over the demise of a member of parliament (MP), who died in a helicopter crash in western Kenya on Saturday.
“I have received with profound shock and deep sadness the news this evening of the passing of Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament, Mheshimiwa Johana Ng’eno”, Ruto said in a post on X.
The helicopter crashed in Nandi County, in the North Rift region.
The cause was not immediately clear. County police commander Samuel Mukusi told Kenyan television station Citizen TV that the MP, the pilot, and four other people had died.
Ruto described the late lawmaker Ng’eno as a progressive and devoted servant of the people.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his friends, the people of Emurua Dikirr, and all the victims and families affected by the helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County,” Ruto wrote.
