Manchester United have suffered their 16th Premier League defeat of the season, falling 3-4 to Brentford on Sunday afternoon.
Kevin Schade’s brace, Yoane Wissa’s strike, and a Luke Shaw own goal sealed victory for Brentford, despite a late salvo from Alejandro Garnacho and Amad.
Newcastle et al
Elsewhere, Newcastle secured a late 1-1 equaliser to earn a valuable point in their pursuit of Champions League football against Brighton.
Meanwhile, West Ham and Tottenham could not be separated in their London derby, playing out a 1-1 draw.
Gunners Fresh Loss
On Saturday, Arsenal endured a setback ahead of their Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain, as Evanilson led Bournemouth to a 2-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium.
Having lost 1-0 to PSG in the Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday, the Gunners will need a much-improved performance in the return leg in Paris on Wednesday.
Second-placed Arsenal still require six points to guarantee Champions League qualification for next season via a top-five finish in the Premier League.
After finishing as runners-up to Manchester City for the past two seasons, the Champions League remains their final hope of a trophy this term. Mikel Arteta is still chasing a second trophy in his six-year tenure, his last being the 2020 FA Cup.
Arsenal last reached the Champions League final in 2006 and have never won the tournament.
Lookman as Transfer Target
Meanwhile, Nigeria and Atalanta forward, Ademola Lookman has emerged as a summer transfer target for Arsenal.
According to Sky Sports transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Lookman is on the Arsenal’s radar ahead of the summer window.
Mikel Arteta’s side are aiming to bolster their attack as they compete for both domestic and European honours.
Lookman, who has Premier League experience with Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City, scored his 19th goal of the season for Atalanta on Sunday after a brief scoring drought.
