The Nigerian Government has expressed deep concern over reports of an Israeli airstrike in Doha, Qatar, which allegedly targeted senior members of the Hamas leadership.
According to a statement issued by Kimiebi Ebienfa, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, Nigeria emphasized the importance of respecting the sovereignty of all nations and adhering strictly to international law, particularly in situations involving the use of force across borders.
The government warned that such developments raise troubling questions about regional stability and the viability of ongoing diplomatic efforts to resolve the protracted Israeli–Palestinian conflict.
The statement further acknowledged Qatar’s longstanding role as a key mediator and facilitator of dialogue in the Middle East, stressing that the Gulf nation has consistently provided platforms for negotiations and reconciliation. Nigeria therefore urged all parties involved in the crisis to exercise maximum restraint, avoid any further escalation, and recommit to peaceful engagement as the only sustainable path forward.
The Federal Government also extended heartfelt sympathies to those directly affected by the incident and reiterated its unwavering support for all initiatives that foster de-escalation, dialogue, and the pursuit of durable peace.
Reaffirming its position, Nigeria noted that it remains committed to working with members of the international community, within the framework of the United Nations and other multilateral platforms, to advance peace, stability, and respect for the rule of law in the Middle East and beyond.
