In a decisive move to deepen institutional synergy and strengthen governance efficiency, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Didi Walson-Jack, has called for a renewed and sustained partnership between the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) and the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC).
She emphasized that collaboration and shared purpose are essential to achieving the Federal Government’s vision of a modern, efficient, and citizen-focused public service.
This was contained in a statement by Eno Olotu, FCAI, mnipr, Director of Information and Public Relations, in Abuja.
The statement noted that the HCSF made the call at a Joint Management Retreat themed “Enhancing Collaboration for an Efficient and Productive Civil Service in Nigeria.” The retreat, according to her, marked a strategic step towards institutional alignment, shared accountability, and improved operational coherence between both bodies.
Walson-Jack expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his confidence in the Nigerian Civil Service and his continuous support for reform initiatives. She also lauded the FCSC Chairman, Professor Tunji Olaopa, for his visionary leadership, citing key milestones under his tenure such as the adoption of merit-based recruitment, computer-based testing, and the implementation of a strategic development plan.
The HCSF highlighted that the retreat was designed to bridge operational gaps and promote seamless coordination between the OHCSF and FCSC, particularly in areas of human resource management, recruitment, and performance evaluation.
In his remarks, Professor Olaopa commended the HCSF’s reform-driven leadership, describing the retreat as a vital consultative platform to align policy direction and strengthen efficiency.
The event, attended by FCSC Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, Directors, and key stakeholders, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment, under the Renewed Hope Agenda, to building a merit-driven, digitally enabled, and future-ready civil service that delivers measurable results for Nigerians.
