Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso, has now quit his club, paving the way for him to most likely take up the Real Madrid job.
Alonso confirmed this during a press conference.
He said, “The club and I have agreed that these two last games will be my final ones as Bayer Leverkusen coach.”
He is now close to making a return to the Bernabéu, where he played from 2009 until 2014.
The 43-year-old will leave B04, where he has enjoyed phenomenal success during his almost three-year stint.
Including other breakthroughs, Alonso led Leverkusen to win the Bundesliga, a league title Bayern Munich had held for years.
