Plans to airlift more fans to the ongoing 2022 World Cup by Morocco‘s national carrier is on top gear ahead of their semi-final clash against France on Wednesday December 14.
According to the airline’s management on Monday, an additional 30 roundtrip flights to bring elated fans to Qatar has begun.
Royal Air Maroc has established an air bridge between Casablanca and Doha to allow the many Moroccans who want to support the national team at its best and experience the thrill of the World Cup semi-final.
Morocco beat Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal 1-0 on Saturday, becoming the first African or Arab team to qualify for a World Cup semi-final and sparking celebrations across the Arab world.
The airline of the North African kingdom called it a “historic rating” and said the jumbo jets would operate the 30 return flights that would leave on Tuesday and Wednesday in time for the match.
Fans had previously complained online about mishaps at a crowded airport in Casablanca, Morocco’s economic capital, before the Portugal clash.
Coach Walid Regragui, who took over just three months before the start of the tournament, has repeatedly called Moroccan fans “the 12th member of the team.”
On Tuesday, Croatia will battle Argentina in the first semi-final.
