Eight Nigerians have been selected overall in both rounds of the 2020 NBA Draft, that saw thirty league’s newest recruits with Isaac Okoro drafted 5th overall by Cleveland Cavaliers.
NBA draft is an annual event in which the teams from the National Basketball Association – NBA can draft players who are eligible and wish to join the league from college teams.
Other Nigerians who were drafted on the night are Onyeka Okongwu drafted 6th by Atlanta Hawks, Precious Achiuwa drafted 20th by Miami Heat, Zeke Nnaji drafted 22nd by Denver Nuggets, Udoka Azubuike was drafted 27th by Utah Jazz, Desmond Bane became the 30th draftee for Boston Celtics, Daniel Oturu was drafted 33rd by New York Knicks, while Jordan Nwora was drafted 45th by the Milwaukee Bucks
The selection also saw Georgia guard Anthony Edwards drafted first by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Lamelo Ball – the younger brother of 2017 second round pick and New Orleans Pelicans star Lonzo – was the third draftee to the Charlotte Hornets, behind Golden State Warriors-bound center James Wiseman.
