The African Heritage Awards (AFRIHeritage-26) is set to return for its 4th edition, as distinguished African, global personalities, and top brands have been nominated for recognition and honours at the prestigious ceremony scheduled to hold on April 11 at the prestigious Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, in the historic city of Accra, Ghana.
Building on the success of its previous editions in Rwanda, Nigeria, and Morocco, the AFRIHeritage train moves to Ghana, sustaining its trademark as a foremost Pan-African platform dedicated to recognizing and celebrating outstanding Africans who have made remarkable contributions in leadership, public service, business, philanthropy, culture, media, science and technology, and social impact across the continent and the Diaspora.
According to the organizers – Heritage Times HT in a statement issued on Monday in Accra, the distinguished nominees for the 2026 edition include: Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina, CON, CGH, Honorary President and Former President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), (NIGERIA); Her Excellency, Dame Marcella Liburd, GCMG, JP, Governor-General of Saint Kitts and Nevis (THE CARIBBEAN); Ms. Antoinette Monsio Sayeh, Former Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), (LIBERIA); Professor Lesley Lokko, OBE, Founder and Chair of the African Futures Institute (AFI), (GHANA); Dr. Collen Mashawana, Founder and Chairman of the Collen Mashawana Foundation (SOUTH AFRICA), and many other eminent personalities and top brands.
Chairman/CEO of Heritage Times HT, Mr. Moses Siloko Siasia said the 4th edition of the AFRIHeritage Awards is expected to convene over 1,000 attendees from across Africa and diaspora, consisting of top dignitaries, policymakers, business leaders, creatives, top brands in a grand celebration of excellence, heritage, and Africa’s enduring contributions to global progress. He noted that Ghana edition, which is vital to fostering a sustainable culture of excellence, promoting Afrocentrism, and inspiring an ecosystem that retells the true African story while advancing the continent’s full potential.
The Convener of AFRIHeritage explained that the Awardees were carefully selected through a rigorous, committee-driven process designed to uphold excellence and integrity. A multidisciplinary Management Committee drawn from diverse professional backgrounds evaluated the nominees based on clear key performance indicators, including measurable impact, leadership, consistency, and contributions to projecting Africa’s image globally Described as the highest form of recognition exclusively set out by Africans to celebrate Africans, the AFRIHeritage committee independently identifies, screens, and recommends individuals whose life’s work aligns with its core values of upholding African excellence, heritage promotion, and sustainable development, the organizers added.
Beyond the Awards, the organizers said the 2026 AFRIHeritage event will feature a high-level convergence for strategic networking and panel sessions, bringing together african icons, senior public officials, global CEOs, investors, creatives, top brands, and thought leaders from Africa and the Diaspora. The panel session will examine Africa’s progress and chart practical pathways for continental advancement, partnerships, and shared prosperity. These engagements, according Mr. Siasia is designed to foster meaningful connections, inspire cross-border collaboration, and strengthen a collective African vision rooted in unity, innovation, and global relevance.
Activities leading up to the event would be the ground-breaking ceremony of the US$120 million state-of-the-art AFRIHeritage Centre in Accra, on April 10. The first of its kind in Africa, the organizers say the facility will house a digital library, entrepreneurship village, tech & innovation hub, media center, African hall of fame, memorial park, and a five-star hotel.
