The Nigerian Police Force NPF has demoted and dismissed some former members of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The Police Service Commission (PSC) is also expected to order the prosecution of 24 other ex-SARS operatives for various acts of misconduct.
The developments are a part of efforts geared towards comprehensive police reforms following widespread complaints and protests made by Nigerians against police brutality and extra-judicial killings.
Names and service numbers of officers affected were made public on Saturday.
Prominent among officers who suffered demotion were a former Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Dolapo Badmos and a former Head of the Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU) Abayomi Shogunle.
