Mrs. Ejeh-Adoyikodu Grace Onyechi was among distinguished African personalities and changemakers honoured at the inaugural AFRIHeritage Awards and Concert held on April 11 in Kigali, Rwanda, where she received the prestigious African Humanitarian Award.
She was recognized alongside eminent personalities including former President of Nigeria, H.E. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan; former President of Botswana, H.E. Seretse Khama Ian Khama; former Vice President of Liberia, H.E. Chief Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor; renowned scholar and founder of the PLO Lumumba Foundation, Prof. PLO Lumumba; as well as other notable Africans and top brands whose work continues to shape Africa’s development trajectory.
An accomplished financial professional with over three decades of experience in financial management, Mrs. Onyechi was honoured for her trailblazing humanitarian initiatives and her sustained commitment to uplifting underserved persons in her community, and in Lagos State. With a proven track record in tax audit, financial modelling, forecasting, and process optimization, she has consistently delivered innovative and cost-effective solutions within the corporate space. She is widely respected for her expertise in analyzing financial systems, strengthening institutional performance, and providing strategic insights that support long-term growth and accountability.
Beyond her professional achievements, Mrs. Onyechi has distinguished herself through impactful community outreach, empowerment initiatives, and a strong culture of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). She has leveraged her professional success to create opportunities for vulnerable groups, support families in need, and contribute meaningfully to social development efforts. In her remarks shortly after receiving the award, Mrs. Onyechi expressed gratitude to the organizers and dedicated the honour to the communities she serves. It is about every underserved child, every struggling family, and every community that reminds us why service matters.
