Pep Guardiola has beaten legendary Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson, after Manchester City beat Aston Villa 2-1 away from home on Wednesday night.
First-half goals from Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva had put the Citizens in control, and despite Ollie Watkins pulling one back for the hosts shortly after half time, the visitors were able to hold on for all three points.
The result has seen Guardiola become only the fourth Manager in Premier League history to reach 150 victories for a single club.
And after just 204 games, this beats Sir Alex Ferguson’s record at Man United, who celebrated his 150th win in his 247th match.
In addition, Guardiola has now claimed a staggering 475 points in the Premier League with Man City, averaging 2.33 points per game.
Victory against Villa sees the Citizens remain in second place, just one point behind leaders Chelsea, and they will now be looking to claim their fifth successive Premier League win away against Watford on Saturday.
The other fixture saw Chelsea record a hard fought 1-0 win over Watford.
After a medical emergency had delayed the game by almost 30 minutes, goals from Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech earned the Premier League leaders all three points at Vicarage Road.
A sloppy display from the blues had saw them been pegged back by Nigerian striker Emmanuel Dennis in the second-half.
After some nervous moments at both ends, second-half substitute Ziyech sealed the game with a rocket into the roof of the net after a fine pull back from Mount.
