A team Nigeria delegation made up of players and officials are currently on their way to Abidjan, the Cote d’ivoire capital, for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which kicks off January 13, 2024.
The team dubbed Super Eagles dressed in traditional African attire.
Heritage Times HT reports that they left the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos, Wednesday morning via a chartered flight.
The contingent had arrived in Lagos from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday where they were hosted to a dinner by Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The Jose Peseiro’s team spent one week in Abu Dhabi perfecting strategies for the tournament.

The three-time African champions will be based at the Pullman Hotel in Abidjan.
Nigeria’s first game is against Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium Ebimpe, on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
The Super Eagles have won the competition three times, the last being in 2013.
Up to 24 teams will be participating in the tournament which ends on February 11.
