The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu has ordered the restriction of vehicular movement in Ondo State from 11.59 p.m. on Friday, October 9, to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 10 2020.
According to the spokesman of the Police, Frank Mba, the order was a part of efforts by the Force to ensure effective coordination and safety during the gubernatorial election.
Mba who said the vehicular restriction order will prevent political actors and trouble-makers from freely engaging in unpatriotic acts, added that it will also curtail the circulation and use of illicit arms and hard drugs, entry of political thugs to Ondo State and disruption of the electoral processes.
The spokesperson further assured that adequate security arrangement has been put in place to secure the public space for the election.
He warned that anybody who engages in snatching of ballot boxes, vote-buying, vote-selling, hate speeches, and any other act capable of compromising the integrity of the electoral process will be brought to book.
