Ghana’s Ministry for the Interior has confirmed that a truck transporting Ghanaian tomato traders was caught up in a terrorist attack in Titao on Saturday.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, described the development as disturbing, citing reports received from authorities in Burkina Faso.
According to the statement, the attack targeted a military camp in Titao, with installations reportedly damaged during the assault. The truck carrying the Ghanaian traders was said to have been caught in the violence.
“The Government of Ghana has received disturbing information from Burkina Faso of a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana which was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso on Saturday, February 14, 2026,” the statement said.
The ministry indicated that the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso was working closely with Burkinabe authorities to visit the scene, gather further details and assist in identifying any Ghanaian nationals who may have been affected.
Titao, located in northern Burkina Faso, has experienced repeated armed attacks in recent years and has reportedly been under siege by Islamist militant groups since 2019.
The Ministry for the Interior assured the public that updates would be provided as more verified information becomes available.
