Two popular Nigerian artistes, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, and Darlington Okoye, also known as Speed Darlington engaged in a ceremonial bout.
In the end, Portable, a street music star, was adjudged the winner in a boxing challenge dubbed ‘Chaos in the Ring’.
The bout was staged at the Balmoral Events Centre in Lagos on Friday night.
Going into the match, the Zazuu crooner, as Portable is also known, fought like an angry lion, beginning with a flurry of punches as soon as the bell for Round One sounded.
In the final seconds of the round, Portable landed deft punches on his opponent, as Darlington also called Akpi, visibly looked dazed, but he was saved by the bell.
The Seredebe crooner could not return for Round 2, and the match referee signalled the end of the bout as Portable won by TKO.
Heritage Times HT reports that both Portable and Darlington are known for their local musical vibes in Nigeria, with the former being more controversial and radical in his on and off the stage approach.
Weeks earlier, Portable had stated that he wanted to fight former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua for N100 million instead of Darlington, whom he considered an “unworthy opponent.”
