Nigerian troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two officials of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria, over alleged collaboration with terrorist groups.
The suspects, identified as Isah Abdullahi and Abdullahi Mohammed, were apprehended in Liya, Biu Local Government Area, while receiving a suspicious waybill from a truck driver—an activity flagged by earlier intelligence reports.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, revealed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday. He said the operation led to the discovery of various materials believed to support terrorist operations, including 13 military uniforms and high-voltage batteries.
In a separate operation under Operation Udo Ka, troops arrested a known tax collector working for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network, ESN, in Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State. The suspect was found with N1.5 million believed to be illegally collected from local residents.
Kangye further disclosed that troops in Yobe State also arrested a terrorist logistics supplier, Shaibu Bulama, at Damasak Motor Park. Additionally, 11 suspected collaborators were captured and seven kidnap victims rescued across other locations in the Northeast.
“In the North East theatre, 16 family members of terrorists, comprising four adult females and 12 children surrendered to troops in Bama Local Government Area on July 14, 2025. Preliminary findings suggest they came from Bakura Jega village,” Kangye stated.
He emphasized that arms and ammunition were recovered during the operations, and troops also successfully detonated several improvised explosive devices, IEDs.
“These successes are a result of sustained military pressure on terrorist enclaves and collaborators,” he added.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks across the country.
