Serie A champions, Napoli, have appointed former Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr club coach Rudi Garcia.
Garcia has now replaced Luciano Spalletti who has left Partenopei after winning the league title with the club where Nigeria’s goal king fired 30 goals in the just concluded season.
This was announced by Napoli via its website in a statement.
Part of the statement reads, “Aurelio De Laurentiis is pleased to announce that Rudi Garcia will be the new coach of Napoli.
“To him the most sincere welcome and a good luck wish.”
Garcia Serie A Experience
The 59-year-old with Serie A experience left Al-Nassr in April 2023.
He had coached Roma between 2013 and 2016.
Garcia’s appointment ends Aurelio De Laurentiis’ long search for Spalletti’s successor.
Garcia won 61 of his 118 games in charge of Roma, drawing 34 and losing 23.
He continued his career at Olympique Marseille, Lyon and Al-Nassr, where he spent the last season.
Reports in Italy and France claimed Thursday that another Frenchman, Christophe Galtier, was the leading candidate for the role.
