Rivers State Governor, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has disclosed that he prayed for insecurity to get worse in Nigeria.
The Governor made the disclosure while addressing #EndSARS protesters in Port Harcourt, the state’s capital on Tuesday.
According to him, the decision to “ask God” for widespread insecurity in Nigeria became necessary after the alarm he raised for interventions against kidnappings in the state were dismissed as mere political rhetorics.
“Remember when there was so much kidnapping in this state, I raised an alarm to the federal government, they said it was politics. I prayed to God that armed-robbery, killing, kidnapping should take over the entire country, has it not taken over the entire country?
He further disclosed that his decision to not support #EndSARS protests was because other state’s governors played deaf ears when he tried to draw attention to the unscrupulous and criminal activities of the now-dissolved unit in Rivers State.
“No state has suffered in the hands of SARS like Rivers states. I was the only governor who came out to fight against SARS. When I said they must scrap SARS, no governor came out, not one,” he lamented.
“SARS has gone to kill people in other states, it has now touched them. Do you want me to come out and protest now that they have killed people in other states?”
