States across the federation have begun receiving Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines distributed by the Federal Government.
The development comes just days after nearly four million (3.94) doses of the vaccines arrived Nigeria on the 2nd of March 2029 through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Assess Facility (COVAX).
Heritage Times gathered that no fewer than 9 states including, Benue, Kwara, Lagos, Maiduguri, Nasarawa, Plateau, Osun, Ondo and Ogun have already taken possession of doses of the vaccine.
In Benue, the state government confirmed that it has received 50,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, while Nasarawa state said it received a consignment of over 61,300 doses of the vaccine.
Similarly, Plateau has taken delivery of 105,600 doses of the vaccine while Borno State government disclosed that it received 75,510 doses of the vaccine.
Also among the list of latest recipients of the vaccine are Ondo Ogun and Osun state whose governments confirmed receipts of 75,570, 50,000 and 64,240 doses respectively.
Although the governments of Lagos, Kwara have confirmed receipt of consignments, they are yet to disclose how many doses of the vaccine were received.
Meanwhile, vaccination is expected to kick off in the aforementioned states as soon as possible.
The presidency and members of the Covid-19 Presidential Task Force have publicly taken jabs of the vaccine to drive acceptance.
State governors and other public officials are expected to tread the same path with a view to combating vaccine hesitancy.
