South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is making good progress with his recovery from COVID-19, while continuing to receive treatment for mild symptoms, the Presidency said on Friday.
Ramaphosa, who was given the Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine in February, tested positive for COVID-19 recently.
“The President is in good spirits and comfortable in his recovery,” his office said in a statement.
Ramaphosa, 69, has been in self-isolation in Cape Town since testing positive and is being treated for mild symptoms.
South Africa registered a record 26,976 daily coronavirus infections on Dec. 15 amid a fourth wave of cases that’s being driven by the omicron variant.
The Government will next week review measures in place to curb the spread of the disease, Health Minister Joe Phaahla said earlier on Friday.
