Nigeria’s electricity grid collapsed again, leading to a major blackout in all the states of the federation.
Electricity distribution companies announced Wednesday that the collapse occurred at about 11:00 am.
Wednesday’s collapse is the 18th time a nationwide blackout would be recorded this year.
While some collapses were not made public because they lasted for a short period, many others were made public and lasted days in some cases.
“Dear Customers, we regret to inform you of a system collapse on the National grid at precisely 11:27 am today, Wednesday, July 20th. We are in talks with the Transmission Company of Nigeria to ascertain the cause of the collapse and a possible restoration timeline,” Eko Electricity Distribution Company said in a message to its customers.
Kaduna Electric Distribution Company Plc, also shared a similar message with customers, assuring customers of “normal power supply as soon as possible”.
The discos did not state the cause of the fresh system collapse.
