Manchester City have again set up a semi-final clash against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, after overcoming Bayern Munich 4-1 on aggregate in the quarter-final stage.
The last four encounter is a repeat of what happened last season in the continental competition.
While the first leg ended 3-0 in favour of City, the second leg was tied in a 1-1 draw at Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.
Erling Haaland’s goal helped Pep Guardiola’s side to peg Bayern on the night as they continued their quest for a first European crown.
The City side will now have to face much experienced Madrid club that have won the competition a record 14 times.
Also, Inter Milan kept Benfica at bay to secure a historic Champions League semi-final date with arch-rivals AC Milan, despite being held 3-3 at an ecstatic San Siro.
Inter and city rivals Milan have already met three times this season, with Inter emerging triumphant in one Serie A game and the Italian Super Cup, while Milan won in the league.
Now the rivals, who have been crowned champions of Europe 10 times between them, are gearing up for another two meetings to decide who goes through to the final in Istanbul on June 10.
Both Milan clubs will hope next month’s games pass without incident after their last meeting on the Champions League stage, 18 years ago, was abandoned because of crowd trouble.
