The Federal Government has removed the suspension it placed on replacement of old Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card.
The removal was contained in a statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs at NCC, Dr Ikechukwu Adinde on Thursday.
The Commission said the lifting of the ban was on the condition that the person must have enrolled and obtained the National Identification Number (NIN).
It is worthwhile that to note that the lifting of the ban comes About three weeks after the federal government had on December 9, announced the suspension of the sale and activation of new SIM cards across networks.
While announcing the ban, minster of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami said it was expected to last till the completion of the audit of the Subscriber Registration Database, which seeks to achieve global standards and quality in the issuance of SIM Cards.
According to the commission, the move was a part of government’s efforts geared towards consolidating the achievement of the SIM Card registration exercise of September 2019.
