The event according to the organizers, will gather East Africa’s energy ministers and international stakeholders for high level roundtable discussions in the Mining and Energy sector with the theme, ‘Partnerships for Prosperity: Unlocking Mozambique’s Resources to Advance National & Regional Economic Growth’.

His Excellency Felipe Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique, is expected to be the Chief Host.

Confirmed Speakers at the 10th MMEC include: Hon. Omar Farouk IBRAHIM, Secretary General, African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation (APPO); Hon. Carlos J. ZACARIAS, Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy (Mozambique); Hon. Lefoko MOAGI, Minister of Minerals and Energy (Botswana); Hon. Nqosa MAHAO, Minister of Energy (Lesotho); Hon. Tiago ALMEIDA, Senior Investment Officer, International Finance Corporation; Antonio MACAMO, Management Advisor, Agency for the Promotion of Investment and Exports, (APIEX); Joaquina GUMETA, Director General, Institute for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (IPEME); Jacob FLEWELLING, Africa Investment Advisor, U.S. Development Finance Corporation (DFC); and Senior Representatives from ENH, Aiteo Group, ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies, ABSA Bank, INP among others.

“This celebratory 10th edition of MMEC will be a world class event toasting more than a decade of success as a pivotal convening platform helping to drive Mozambique’s illustrious achievements in utilising its natural resources for sustainable development.

“Mozambique is a natural choice for convening such a high-level conversation on energy security and regional integration owing to its role as an energy hub for Southern Africa and an emerging key player in global energy markets. As the country’s largest and longest running premier industry event, MMEC is proud to host such a crucial dialogue and with heightened concerns around security of supply for both natural gas and electricity owing to the El Nino induced drought, delegates will be keen to hear how Mozambique will cooperate with its regional partners to meet critically urgent energy demand,” the organizers stated.

The event is sponsored by Aiteo, ExxonMobil, Mozambique LNG (operated by TotalEnergies), ABSA Bank Mozambique, Rompco, Vivo Energy Moçambique, GL Africa Energy, Puma Energy, and Vulcan.

Mozambique’s Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy and the national oil company, Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH) are also strongly supporting the event.

“MMEC 2024 will be the place to be for Mozambican companies and entrepreneurs looking to scale their ventures through the potential investment partnerships that can be initiated during the event’s immersive networking activities. Expert speakers will provide in-depth insights useful in enhancing the business capacities of local companies and shedding light on prospects in regional and international markets. The MMEC 2024 exhibition will also provide a comprehensive snapshot of Mozambique’s dynamic mining and energy sectors,” the organizers said.

The 10th Mozambique Mining and Energy Conference and Exhibition is organized by AME Trade Ltd, a leading independent company empowering trade development & investments through the organization of conferences & trade events, along with complimentary valuable business intelligence reports, capacity building training programs and digital connect marketing services.
