Former Nigeria’s Super Eagles star Tijani Babaginda on Thursday evening survived a ghastly motor, alongside his wife.
But his brother, Ibrahim Babangida, wasn’t that lucky as he reportedly died instantly along Kaduna-Zaria road, Kaduna State, Nigeria.
Tijani featured for Nigeria when the country won Olympic Games in 1996 in Atalanta.
Heritage Times HT further gathered that the former Ajax Amsterdam speed star was traveling with his wife and brother when the accident occurred.
He was said to be driving the vehicle when it crashed.
An eye witness told Heritage Times HT that both the Nigerian international and wife are currently hospitalised at University of Zaria Teaching Hospital.
Confirming the incident, Emmanuel Babayaro, another Ex-International wrote via WhatsApp saying, “Comrades! Let us be in prayers for our president, Tijani Babangida who just had a ghastly motor accident along Kaduna-Zaria road.
“Ibrahim Babangida his younger brother died on the spot from the accident while mr President and his family have been taken to the hospital.
“May the soul of Ibrahim Babangida Rest In Peace with God, amen.”
Babayaro is the General Secretary of Professional Football Association of Nigeria (PFAN).
Tijani played alongside famous Kanu Nwankwo, Samson Siasia among other prominent players back then.
