Manchester United on Saturday stumbled to a 1-2 defeat to Brighton in their second English Premier League fixture.
The victory by Brighton marked a total of five wins out of six recent meetings between both clubs.
It also ensured that Brighton are yet to lose this term.
United thought they had won the game themselves when Alejandro Garnacho turned home Bruno Fernandes’ low cross 18 minutes from time.
However, that effort was ruled out for offside following a VAR check as the ball struck fellow United substitute Joshua Zirkzee just before it crossed the line.
Meanwhile, Manchester City made it two wins from two games, after recovering from an early scare to ease their way past Ipswich Town with a 4-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium.
Erling Haaland’s hat-trick and Kevin De Bruyne’s strike ensured that City recovered from a surprise opener from Sammie Szmodics to beat Ipswich Town 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep Guardiola’s side have maximum points from their opening two games played after a win against Chelsea, and had too much for an Ipswich side who did well to keep the scoreline respectable.
Also, Tottenham Hotspur claimed their first win of the new season after cruising past Everton, while West Ham United, Fulham and Nottingham Forest also won for the first time.
Later on, Arsenal romped to a 2-0 defeat of stubborn Aston Villa.
