President William Ruto will embark on a two-day official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, starting Thursday night, as announced by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed.
This visit marks over 60 years of diplomatic relations between Kenya and Germany, as both countries aim to enhance cultural, economic, and diplomatic cooperation.
During his visit, President Ruto will participate in several high-profile engagements expected to bring significant and immediate benefits to the Kenyan people.
A key event will be the signing of the Kenya-Germany Agreement on ‘Comprehensive Migration and Mobility Partnership,’ which will establish a framework for cooperation in labor mobility, apprenticeships, student training, employment, and the welfare of employees, as well as the readmission and return of citizens.
President Ruto is also set to attend the Annual Citizens’ Festival (Bürgerfest), themed “Pamoja – Stronger Together,” where Kenya will be honored as the profile partner country. This marks the first time a non-European nation has been chosen for this partnership, providing a unique platform to showcase Kenya’s rich cultural heritage to the German public.
The President will further hold bilateral discussions with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz, focusing on deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including green energy and climate action, digital cooperation, trade and investment, skills development and labor, and regional and international peace and security.
Additionally, President Ruto will engage with leading German business figures, including CEOs from companies such as Mercedes Benz, YouTube, and AIDA Cruises, during a special forum aimed at boosting trade and investment opportunities between Kenya and Germany.
