The Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the Lagos East Senatorial District bye-election, Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi, BOG, has raised the alarm over the results released so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in the Saturday exercise, alleging that the results are being manipulated. Lamenting on his Twitter page, the PDP candidate said he was rigged out.

Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Tokunbo Abiru is currently leading in the race for the Lagos East senatorial district. Results published so far indicate that Abiru is in an early lead. Abiru is closely followed by Babatunde Gbadamosi of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

A group of Nigerian elders have dismissed the Chief of Army Staff’s warning to officers against coup attempts, stressing that the alarm was a ploy to divert the attention of Nigerians from the failures of service chiefs. The elders also advised the National Assembly to hold onto the 2021 Budget, until the President implements the resolution of the two legislative chambers demanding the sack of service chiefs. The group is known as the Coalition of Nigerian Elders for Peace and Good Governance.

The Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari has failed woefully to protect lives and property of Nigerians. The forum also observed that the president has failed to convene a security review to consider what it called ‘regulated self-protection’. The forum said this through its spokesman, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC ), has announced 310 new coronavirus cases in the country. The NCDC in a tweet on Saturday said that confirmed coronavirus infections in Nigeria have risen to 68,937. According to the health agency, a total of 1,180 deaths have been recorded from the virus. It stated that the FCT took the lead with 128 new infections, followed by Lagos with 86, while Kaduna and Kastina recorded 26 and 20 infections respectively.
