Sory Doumbouya has been appointed as the new President of the Guinea Football Federation (FEGUIFOOT).
Doumbouya, formerly the federation’s vice president, assumed the role after 51 out of 53 delegates at the ordinary general assembly in Conakry voted to uphold the impeachment of Bouba Sampil.
Heritage Times HT reports that Sampil was impeached following suspension and allegations of misconduct against him, relating to disregard for the executive board by taking unilateral decisions in March, 2025.
Sampil served as FEGUIFOOT president for just 15 months prior to his impeachment. He previously held the position of president at AS Kaloum, one of Guinea’s top football clubs, before taking over at FEGUIFOOT in January 2024.
He also reportedly fell out with the main sponsor of the Guinea Football, Guicopres Group, after demanding the construction company settle all outstanding debts owed to FEGUIFOOT, totalling billions of Guinean Francs.
