A former Military Administrator of Rivers State and Minister of Information during the General Ibrahim Babangida’s regime, retired Brigadier General Anthony Ukpo, has died at the age of 74.
Constitutional Lawyer and Secretary of the Ogoja State Creation Committee which was chaired by Ukpo, Leonard Anyogu, confirmed that Ukpo died on Monday morning in a hospital after battling an undisclosed illness.
His death comes barely a week after two of his elder siblings, Madam Lydia Ukpo and Archbishop Joseph Edra Ukpo died.
“I can confirm that the former Milad died this morning. He died in a hospital this morning.
“It is very sad. Cross River State has lost an asset,” he said.
