Nigerian singer and instrumentalist, Abolore Akande, better known as 9ice, has tendered a public apology to his wife, Sunkwanmi Ajala amid report of cheating scandal.
The singer made the plea on Saturday on his Instagram page after a viral video that showed him kissing another woman surfaced online.
9ice, in an Instagram post titled ‘save a sinking vessel’, admitted he had done “something shameful and terrible” and begged his fans to help him apologise to his wife.
The singer whose marriage to Sunkanmi is less than a year admitted to have experienced several marital failures in the past, stating that he cannot afford seeing his current marriage hit the rock again.
“I have done something so shameful, something terrible and it’s costing me my family. And the most important thing to me right now is my family. That 9ice that you’ll always see and appreciate is because l have a backbone, my wife, Olasunkami Akande,” he said in the now-viral video.
“And because of this terrible thing that l have done, it’s costing me a whole lot. I apologise for what l have done and l need you guys to help me beg my wife. She is my backbone.
“That 9ice that you always see, that strives, that brings out the best in our culture and tradition is because I have a backbone”
“I have excelled in so many other things and one thing that l have been failing is my marriage. But l want this marriage to work. Please and please, help me beg my wife. Save this marriage for me. God bless you.”
The development is coming a few weeks to the first wedding anniversary of the lovebirds who tied the knot in December 2019.
The couple had welcomed their first daughter, Michelle Abolanle Akande, about five years before their marriage.
