The Confederation of African Football, (CAF) has approved the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match between Guinea Bissau and Nigeria’s Super Eagles to take place in Morocco.
The matchday three encounter scheduled for March 23, is the first leg qualifying game between the West African nations.
According to match schedule, the reverse fixture is slated for the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja four days later.
Guinea-Bissau’s home stadia, Estadio 24 de Setembro and Estadio Lino Correia, were not approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host games in the qualifiers.
This is because two grounds failed to meet CAF’s requirements to host international matches.
Already, the Guinea Bissau Football Federation has been granted permission by their Moroccan counterpart to host their home games in the country.
The Djurtus are second in Group B with four points from two games.
Baciro Cande’s side had lost 0-2 to Nigeria the last time both teams met in a group game at the 2022 Nations Cup in Cameroon.
As it has been, two teams are expected to emerge from every group after the qualifying series for the tournament billed to hold in Ivory Coast, January 2024.
