The 2021 NAACP Image Awards celebrated the accomplishments of

people of color across television, music, literature’s and film in a week-long celebration, with five nights of virtual awards leading up to Saturday’s live broadcast.

 

The award was hosted by Anthony Anderson.

 

Andra Day, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Michelle Obama, Regina King and more presented awards, while Eddie Murphy was inducted into the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame and LeBron James will receive the President’s Award.

 

The NAACP Image Awards officially began on Monday, giving out a set of awards each night.

 

Black-ish and HBO’s Lovecraft Country reigned supreme in total nominations with eleven and eight a piece, respectively.

 

Black-ish stars, Deon Cole and Marsai Martin wins in their respective comedy series categories.

 

Joining Lovecraft as some of the year’s first-time nominees were Starz’s P-Valley, with six nods, (including one already won by Loretta Devine for Outstanding Guest Performance).

 

Regé-Jean Page scoop up the award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama for Netflix’s Bridgerton.

 

Other big winners included; Power Book II: Ghost and Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker with three awards each, two victories for HBO’s Insecure: Best Comedy Series and for Issa Rae for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy.

 

Chadwick Boseman posthumous win for his supporting role in Spike Lee’s “Da 5 Bloods.”

 

He is also up for outstanding actor in a motion picture for his performance in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” which earned nine nominations and already won for outstanding ensemble cast.
