Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba hit out at his former boss at Old Trafford Jose Mourinho suggesting the Portuguese tactician goes against players and makes them feel less important to the team.
When Mourinho took over the helm at Manchester United in 2016, he made Pogba the world’s most expensive player following a big-money move from Juventus.
During their first stint together, the pair made the most of it as they claimed a League Cup and Europa League double in 2017. But, their relationship grew cold; leading the way to Mourinho’s sack the year after.
The pair had a famous training ground burst up in 2018 after the United boss thought Pogba had been laughing at the club’s defeat to Derby.
And Pogba has revealed it is tough to explain his relationship with the Tottenham boss even now.
“What I have now with Ole is different because he wouldn’t go against the players,” Pogba said in a Sky Sports interview. “It’s not like you put them on the side and they don’t exist any more. I think that’s the difference between Mourinho and Ole.
“Once I had a great relationship with Mourinho. Everybody sees that and the next day you don’t know what happened. That’s the strange thing I had with Mourinho. And I can not explain to you because, even me, I don’t know.”
Pogba’s comments came in the heels of Spurs 3-1 defeat to Manchester United last Sunday.
The United boss Ole Solskjær and Mourinho clashed in a heated exchange of words.
The United manager had frowned at Son Heung-min’s claim to have been fouled in the buildup to Edinson Cavani’s controversial disallowed goal.
Reacting to Solskjaer’s claims that he would not feed his son if he had behaved like the South Korean player.
But many including Pogba, accused Mourinho of adopting a tactic he’s been known for to take attention away from his side’s lost.
Pogba said: “I am sure Mourinho said something that made people speak. That’s what he does. We got the result that we wanted. Ole knows it and we enjoyed that moment. We know Mourinho and what he likes. We don’t need this.
“We just focus on us, we won the game, he lost the game, and he doesn’t want to speak about the game. He wants to speak about the dad of someone; that’s what he does. Everybody knows it. It’s very Mourinho.”
