The death toll was the highest ever to be recorded in a day since February last year, when the COVID-19 pandemic began.

The new deaths jacked Nigeria’s death toll to 2361 while 650 new COVID cases were confirmed for Saturday, increasing the caseload to 190,983.

The agency said active cases of COVID-19 dropped from 18,210, reported on Friday to 10,575, reported on Saturday.

It however didn’t explain the big drop.

Meanwhile, popular comedian and writer, Ali Baba has urged his followers to take caution as the third wave of the COVID-19 continues to rear its ugly head killing more than 500 people in Lagos and over 1000 Nigerians in total over the past weeks.

Ali Baba who himself contacted the virus during its second wave revealed how he almost died in isolation as he exhausted more than six cylinders before he got better.

The king of comedy as he loves to be called stressed that he was alarmed seeing that people don’t believe that the virus exists and it is currently ravaging lives and killing people its wake.

He urged his friends to take responsibility over their safety by observing the COVID-19 protocols, adding that taking the doses does not totally immune one to the virus.
