Former Everton defender and Nigerian International, Joseph Yobo will relish a chance to follow in the footsteps of ex-internationals and manage the Super Eagles of Nigeria in future.
Yobo who is the current Assistant to Eagles Head Coach, Gernot Rohr, is taking his time to master the art.
Rohr’s contract with the Nigeria Football Federation will expire at the end of 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the former defender is not ruling out the possibility of succeeding his boss.
“National team head coach is one of the biggest jobs in Nigeria.
“It would be a privilege and honour if, someday, I could be in that position.
“If I didn’t think about it that way, why start?
“I had that conversation [with his country’s FA]… now I have to understudy to learn,” Yobo told evertonfc.com.
The former Marseille defender had 101 caps for Nigeria and was captain when the Super Eagles won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
He also appeared at three FIFA World Cups.
Yobo spent majority of his club career at Everton before retiring in 2014. He has 220 Premier League appearances under his belt and eight goals to his name in all competition for the Toffees.
