Victor Osimhen continued his hot scoring streak by adding a second – his ninth of the season as Napoli ran out 3-0 winners over Legia Warsaw on Thursday at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

The Nigerian international came on in the second half for Hirving Lozano to put Napoli two ahead after Lorenzo Insigne had opened the scoring.

With his latest effort, Osimhen became the second Napoli player to score in three consecutive games in a European competition in the 21st century after Dries Mertens.

Another substitute, Kostas Manolas also registered his name on the scoresheet, five minutes into the stoppage-time.

Osimhen has now scored four goals in three Europa League matches this campaign and he also has a tally of five goals after seven league appearances for the Serie A leaders.

The former Lille talisman is the second-highest scoring player in the Europa League this season alongside Leicester City’s Patson Daka who scored four goals in a game after Cameroon’s Karl Toko Ekambi who has five goals for Lyon so far.

Super Eagles centre-half, Leon Balogun also got on the scoresheet, as he notched up his first European goal for Rangers few days after breaking his international duck for Nigeria in a 2-0 World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR).

Balogun’s Rangers recorded their first group win in the Europa League with an emphatic 2-0 victory over Brondby on Thursday night.

The 33-year-old started the game alongside his compatriot Joe Aribo and only needed 18 minutes to find the back of the net from James Tavernier’s cross, before Kemar Roofe made it 2-0 to seal maximum points for the hosts at Ibrox Stadium.

Balogun was later replaced by new Super Eagles invitee Calvin Bassey in the 64th minute.
