Gareth Bale has bemoaned his exclusion from the Messi- Ronaldo debate that has continued to gain prominence in the last decade, insisting that he could have challenged the duo if not for injuries.
Bale, who is on loan from Real Madrid to Tottenham arrived Bernabeu in the summer of 2013 for a record fee of £85 million.
He has won slew of titles for the Spanish club including four Champions League trophies with the highlight of his career coming at the Wembley final against Liverpool when scored a fantastic overhead kick.
Though, he has fallen out of favour with Madrid in recent years but one cannot argue the existing truth that Welsh’s career has been affected by recurring injuries.
Bale said, “If it wasn’t for injuries, my name would be in the same debate with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi name.”
“At Real Madrid training sessions I was the best free kick taker, the best finisher, but Cristiano was preferred to take them freekicks and all dead balls except for corner kicks, but at training i was always above him in the free kicks scoring rate.”
“In Champions League finals I did great, particularly against Atletico Madrid we were two minutes away to defeat, but guess what I saved them, we went on to win 4-1, but my name is forgotten.”

The former Southampton player has played five matches and scored two goals since he reunited with his former boss Jose Mourinho at Spurs.
