Nigeria and Ghana are set to renew their fierce rivalry after fixtures by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) pitched them in the second qualifying round of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
While the first round of qualifiers will take place October 25 to 27, and November 1 to 3, the second round is scheduled for December 20 to 22 and December 27 to 29, 2024.
Another Fierce ‘Jollof’ Rivalry
Now, the draw which held in Cairo Egypt on Wednesday pitched the West African bitter rivals against each other, meaning only one of them can make it to the tournament.
Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will host the uniquely designed CAF competition that is reserved for players plying their trade in their respective countries between February 1 and 28, 2025.
Qualification Module
A total of 40 nations engaged in the draw to determine the first of two rounds of qualifiers to determine the final teams that will qualify for the eighth edition of the tournament, which will be played in Nairobi, Dar es Salaam and Kampala
The entrants have been split to six regions.
Five of the regions will provide three qualifiers each but the Cecafa region has been handed a fourth space because Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will all be involved in the preliminaries despite qualifying automatically as joint hosts
