Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that his family are exposed to countless online threats and abuses .
The Gunners boss, who has got his sleeves all rolled up in a bid to steady a sinking ship at the Emirates stadium added, he was not exempted from the series of hostile messages.
“I think if we would be reading everything that is written about us, probably we’d have to stay in bed a lot of days,” Arteta told his press conference on Friday.
“I think we are all exposed to that in this industry and that’s why I prefer not to read because it would affect me personally much more the moment somebody wants to touch my family.
“It happened, the club was aware of it and we tried to do something about it, and that’s it.”
Arteta took over the job at Arsenal in the wake of Unai Emery’s departure in 2019 and has since commit to ushering the club into a new era of success in north London.
Recent results have seen the club slump into the bottom half of the table, however, with losses against Wolves and Aston Villa seemingly angering fans to the point of hurling abuse at Arteta and his loved ones.
Online abuse has become a major talking point of late, with calls having been made for social media companies to protect their platforms in the wake of several racist comments mailed to black players.
